Norwegian Rogaland and Russian Arkhangelsk to cooperate

The Northern Maritime Corridor (NMC)

An official delegation from the Norwegian county Rogaland visited Arkhangelsk oblast last week to discuss further cooperation within petroleum projects and other fields of common interest.

Location

The two regions already had concluded an agreement on mutual understanding, but now the time has come to make the cooperation more active, web site Regions.ru writes. A working group has been established to prepare a cooperation agreement that should be ready for signing during the Arkhangelsk Maritime Partenariate in October.

The two regions have many common issues that can be developed – projects within the oil and gas industry; the Northern Maritime Corridor; production of biofuel; farming of salmon, trout, cod and other Arctic species of fish.

The Norwegian delegation suggested organizing a series of seminars in Arkhangelsk and Stavanger on development of the oil and gas sector.

The Rogaland county hosts the headquarters of many Norwegian oil and gas companies. The region is also currently lead partner in the Northern Maritime Corridor project

As BarentsObserver has reported, Rogaland county two years ago signed a cooperation agreement with the administration of the oil-rich Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
