Europe’s Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Centre (JACDEC) names Finnair the world’s safest airline in its 2012 index.

Over the last 30 years, Finnair has not had one single accident, nor any casualties.

In the Barents Region, Finniar has regular flights to Ivalo, Rovaniem, Kittilä and Oulu. Last year, the company announced a new direct route to Murmansk from Helsinki, but the flights were canceled due to few sold tickets.

Second on the list among airliners with destinations in the Barents Region is Aeroflot, ranked 39. SAS is ranked number 50 in the index. Other major airlines flying the Barents Region, like Norwegian, Nordavia and Widerø are not listed since the index only includes the 60 largest airliner in the world.

The index is based on operators’ 30-year record of serious incidents, relative to their revenue passenger kilometer.
