Skiing against freezing

ARKHANGELSK: Abnormal freezing cold in did not prevent to the most massive ski starts in Russia.

Location

Over 1,5 million ski lovers took part in the 30th competition “Ski Track of Russia” on Sunday.  The organizers had to cancel the competitions in some Russian regions due to hard freezing cold. For example in Komi Republic where the temperature for the recent weeks does not exceed minus 20-25 degrees the authorities had to postpone the competitions by two weeks.

Almost the same freezing weather was observed in Arkhangelsk but this did not prevent over 5.000 skiers of all ages to come on Sunday to the ice of Northern Dvina where these competitions are usually take place.

In Murmansk 6.700 athletes tried the ski track.

The Ski of Russia is arranged from 1982 and number of its participants is increasing from year to year. Traditionally these competitions unite professional athletes and thousands of ski fans all over the country.
