Drilling rig construction completed in 2010

The construction of the “Arkticheskaya” jack-up rig will be completed by mid-2010, the Svezdochka yard in Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk Oblast, confirms.

The shipyard this week connected the platform topsides with the 138 meter high support columns, Regnum reports. The topsides are constructed by the American company National Oilwell Varco. The Arkticheskaya will be the first rig of its kind built in Russia. It will be handed over to Gazprom subsidiary Gazflot in the middle of 2010, the Zvezdochka yard informs. The rig has been under construction for more than ten years.
