Dmitry Dmitriyenko was appointed as Governor on March 25.

According to Chairman of the Federation Council Sergey Mironov, Yury Yevdokimov in March 2009 supposedly tried to lobby his candidacy for the seat of Murmansk Oblast in the assembly. However, that attempt remained without positive results. Leader of the council, Sergey Mironov categorically rejected the bid from the former Murmansk governor, Mironov writes on his web site.
