Medvedev supports the proposal from the Communists on introducing compulsory election debates, newspaper Vedomosti reports. The United Russia party meanwhile says it supports the proposal but that the debates must be subjected to strict regulations. Parties, which show inappropriate behavior should be deprived the right to participate in the debates, party representatives argue. In the latest Russian elections both on federal and regional level, the United Russia party has been reluctant to participate in political TV debates.
