According to the newspaper, the Ministry of Economic Development in a meeting on 8 May decided to increase gas tariffs on private consumption with five percent from 1 January and then with another 15 percent in April. Industry will from January 1 have to pay 15 percent more for gas. Gazprom and the Russian energy industry has long called for major increase in energy tariffs in order to increase profits.
