“The European Union is extremely important for Norway. This is reflected by the Norwegian government’s active policy towards both individual European countries as well as the European Union in itself”, Stoltenberg stated to the press after the meetings, EU-Norway.org reports.
Together with five of his cabinet ministers, Mr. Stoltenberg yesterday met with all the main institutions of the EU. Stoltenberg had talks with the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana. He also had lunch with EU Commissioner and Vice President Margot Wallström before he met the President of the Commission, José Manuel Barroso and the President of the European Parliament, Joseph Borell.
He also met with General Secretary of NATO, Jap de Hoop Scheffer.
The meeting between the Norwegian ministers and the EU representatives came just two days before the EU meets with Russian leaders for talks on a new partnership agreement. That agreement will be of vital importance also for non-EU member Norway.
