In its verdict of 19 August, the October Court in Arkhangelsk stated that election results from two polling stations were incorrect and had to be cancelled. It left in force the results from the remaining stations, however, thus giving no change in the overall election results. Ms Bazanova and her advisers maintain that the court verdict in incorrect. –We consider the verdict unfair, lawyer and adviser Mansur Bekaev says to Rosbaltnord.ru. –With the cancelling of the results from the two polling stations, the court showed that not all was in order with the election commission’s handling of the issue, he adds. He believes the verdict thus is contradictory. Ms. Bazanova intends to appeal the court verdict. She also says that she will bring the case to an international court. As BarentsObserver previously reported, the Arkhangelsk election commission first declared Ms. Bazanova the winner of the elections, but then, after a recount, gave the victory to acting mayor Viktor Pavlenko. Tatiana Bazanova and the political opposition quickly said the election recount was manipulated and accused the election commission of having been behind the misdeed.
