Mr. Reidar Nilsen says to NRK that the Norwegian fish industry is open for wide cooperation, but at the same time underlines that the ongoing seismic activities in the Lofoten waters have put relations with the national Petroleum Directorate to the test. -What has happened should be a reminder and a warning to all our cooperation partners that we in the future no longer will accept this kind of methods. The Fishery Association approved with six weeks of seismic operations in the Lofoten area, but the Petroleum Directorate still initiated four months of seismic mapping. The fish industry argues that the activities are scaring away fish stocks from the rich local fish grounds.
