Russia with second-most Internet users in Europe

By the end of the year, Russia will have a total of 40 million Internet users, an international analysis company says. That will make the country the second biggest Internet user in Europe.

According to the prognosis from eMarketer, Russia will in the course of 2008 have a 15 percent increase in the number of Internet users. That will give the country a total of 40 million web users by the end of the year. Only Germany has more users, newspaper Vedomosti reports. The analysis company also believes Russia by 2010 will have 50,400 Internet users and in 2012 up to 59 million users, which will be 42 percent of the population. In the prognosis, the Internet users are defined as people using the net regularly more than three times per month.
