Russia’s top EU representative resigns

The Russian top presidential representative to the European Union, Mr. Sergey Yastrzhembskii, is leaving his Brussels post. Sources in the Foreign Ministry say the post will be eliminated.

Location

The resignation of Mr. Yastrzhembskii comes as Dmitrii Medvedev takes over the post as Russian president. It is expected that Mr. Medvedev will exchange the whole presidential administration, as well as introduce a set of structural and administrative changes. Sergey Yastrzhembskii is a veteran in Russian politics. He has held a number of key posts in the Russian state structures
