Medvedev will be on holiday for the whole week, RIA Novosti reports. He has not appointed anyone to perform his duties as Prime Minister while he is away from the capital but will be leading the Government from the Murmansk region and later the Astrakhan region.
While in the Murmansk region, they are probably staying in Medvedev’s €4 million Finnish lumber villa on the shores of the Umba river, one of the best rivers for fishing salmon on the Kola Peninsula.
According to Blogger51, roads leading to the airport in Apatity, where the Prime Minister’s plane landed, were rapidly being repaired before the visit.
This is the second time this year Dmitry Medvedev is on holiday in the Murmansk region. In April he went skiing in the popular skiing resort of Kirovsk, having the slopes closed for a whole day for everybody except him and his company.
The villa on the shores of Umba can only be reached by helicopter. It has its own cinema, yoga room and sauna. A separate building houses a 120 m² swimming pool, and there are two 100 m² VIP-cottages and a 360 m² building for servants and other employees.
The 540 m² luxurious lumber villa was built by The Finnish company Puukeskus last year, as BarentsObserver reported. The owner of the villa is the Russian State, but it is is financed by PhosAgro, one of the world’s largest producers of fertilizer and owner of Apatit, one of the cornerstone enterprises on the Kola Peninsula.
