Woman elected leader of closed military town

Tatiana Tsimbalyuk has been elected leader of Aleksandrovsk, the newly merged military town in Murmansk Oblast.

Location

Ms. Tsimbalyuk represents the United Russia party. She was elected with a majority of 19 votes of the local town council. Her contender was Yuri Kulepov, the leader of the Northern Fleet’s Nuclear and Radiation Security Unit, Murman.ru reports. Aleksandrovsk is a newly town entity, based on the merged military towns of Polyarny, Snezhnegorsk and Skalisty. The new town continues to be a closed military area closed for foreigners and ordinary Russians.
