The company Skellefteå Kraft has signed a framework agreement with Nordex on the delivery of 118 wind turbines to be placed near Malå in northern Sweden.

Location

The project concerned is the “Blaiken”, which with 250 megawatts (MW) is to be one of the largest wind farms in Sweden, as well as two forerunner projects “Jokkmokksliden” (25 MW) and “Storliden” (20 MW), a press release from Nordex informs. The projects are located in the municipality of Malå in the county of Västerbotten.

The first 18 turbines will be assembled on site already this fall, newspaper Norra Västerbotten reports. They alone will produce enough power for 5000 houses.

Several major wind power projects are now unfolding in northern Sweden. As BarentsObserver reported, the Swedish government recently approved plans also for the Markbygdens Wind Power project, which with its projected 1100 wind turbines will be one of the biggest on-shore wind power parks in Europe.
