Did fire extinguish Northern Fleet aircrafts?

The Russian Ministry of Defence on Tuesday rebuffed unofficial information about the loss of 200 aircrafts and helicopters in a wild fire in Kolomna, near Moscow. The air base houses parts of the Navy’s aircrafts.

According to Vedomosti, a ministry representative has rebuffed the newspaper’s unofficial information about the loss of 200 aircrafts in the wild fire. The Russian Navy’s Central Aviation Technical Base is located in Kolomna. Several Russian media earlier reported that the wild fire had destroyed the base with the aircrafts and equipment worth about 20 billion RUB. The Defence Ministry does however confirm that major values were lost in the fire. A significant part of the base’s equipment was destroyed, the source told Vedomosti.
