Norwegian, Russian cooperation at sea continues to be strengthened in the High North.

Location

Russia’s newest Coast Guard vessel “MGS Sprut” makes port call to both Bodø and Sortland on Tuesday. The vessel visits northern Norway as the annual top meeting between the Joint Headquarters in Bodø and FSB Border Guard.

“MGS Sprut” sails together with one of the newest Norwegian Coast Guard vessels, the “KV Barentshav” across Vestfjorden from Bodø to Sortland, the homeport for the Norwegian Coast Guard. Joint exercises will take place as the voyage across the fjord takes place.

A new protocol outlining the future cooperation between the two countries will be signed, reads a press-release from Norway’s Joint Headquarters.

The meetings are very important for contact and cooperation across borders between Norway and Russia on this level, and it adds to concrete plans for activity over the next year in areas where both countries have common interests and objectives.
