Arctic retreat for Medvedev

Russia’s president Dmitry Medvedev will get a €4 million Finnish lumber villa on the shores of the Umba river on the Kola Peninsula.

Location

The Finnish company Puukeskus is raising a 540 m² luxurious lumber villa for the Russian President next to one the Kola Peninsula’s best rivers for salmon fishing.

The villa has its own cinema, yoga room and sauna. A separate building will house a 120 m² swimming pool, and there will be two 100 m² VIP-cottages and a 360 m² building for servants and other employees, Allnews reports, citing the Finnish newspaper Kauppalehti.

The owner of the villa is the Russian State, and the project is financed by PhosAgro, one of the world’s largest producers of fertilizer and owner of Apatit, one of the cornerstone enterprises on the Kola Peninsula.

Prime Minister Putin has said that the Murmansk region offers the best fishing in the world.
