UiT´s key research focuses on the polar environment, indigenous people, peace and conflict transformation, telemedicine, medical biology, space physics, fishery science, linguistics and computational chemistry.
The University Center in Svalbard (UNIS) is the world’s northernmost institution for higher education and research and attracts students looking for Arctic competence. This year 628 students have applied for courses here, which is 200 more than only four years ago, Svalbardposten writes.
UNIS offers courses in biology, technology, geology and geophysics.
