Murmansk Minister of Transport dismissed

Murmansk will over the next years be a Russian key region for transport and infrastructure development. This week, the region fired its minister of transport.

Minister Sergei Leus left his post, reportedly on his own personal request, with effect from 31 July. The resignation is approved by Governor Dmitry Dmitriyenko, a press release from the regional government reads. It is however likely that Mr. Leus was told to leave his post. The transport minister also held his post under former governor Yury Yevdokimov. Mikhail Kruchinin is appointed new Transport Minister of Murmansk Oblast. He comes from the post as minister of housing issues, energy, transport and communications in Irkutsk Oblast. Murmansk Oblast will with the development of the Shtokman field and the Murmansk Transport Hub become one of the main infrastructure investment areas in Russia. The issues of transport and infrastructure will also be high on the agenda in the upcoming Murmansk Economic Forum due mid October this year.
