Norway’s to easternmost towns, Kirkenes and Vardø are both hoping for base activities related to the Shtokman development. Instead of fighting against eachother for contracts, the two base companies, Vardø Barents Base and Kirkenes Base, will join forces to be better prepared for signing large contracts.

Though Kirkenes has a good location regarding well developed infrastructure, the town also has its limitations on available areas for base activity. Vardø is closer to the Shtokman field and has large available areas for base activity. That’s why Landro believe that cooperation between Kirkenes and Vardø will strengthen their competitiveness on Shtokman contracts
