All necessary documents have now been signed by the Murmansk city Property Committee, Rosbalt.ru reports. The new mosque will be built along the Kolsky Prospekt.
As BarentsObserver has reported, the plans for the mosque has triggered major skepticism among local residents, resulting in the long-lasting bureaucrat process.
There are about 30,000 Moslems living in Murmansk Oblast, Rosbalt informs.
The mosque will be one of the northernmost in the world. Also in the northern Norwegian city of Tromsø, the local Moslem community plans the construction of a new mosque.
