Both the Russian and EU negotiators describe their first meeting as positive, RIA Novosti reports. The meeting comes as leaders of the EU and Russia in and last week’s summit in Khanti-Mansiisk officially decided to restart negotiations. The former agreement between the sides originally expired in December last year, but has been prolonged until a new agreement is on the table. The Russian negotiators are headed by the country’s permanent representative to the EU, Mr. Vladimir Chizhov, while the EU side is headed by General Director of the Comission DG on foreign relations, Mr. Eneko Landaburu.
