10,5 billion RUB investments in Komi electricity

Russian electricity major RAO UES will over the next five years invest 10,5 billion RUB (280 mill EUR) in electricity grid development in the Komi Republic. Power consumption in the region is expected to increase with as much as 80 percent over the next seven years

Press spokesman for the Komi regional administration, Mr. Konstantin Bobrov, says the agreement with RAO UES includes increased grid capacities, new generating units and more reliable supplies to consumers. He confirms that power consumption in the region is expected to increase with as much as 78 percent over the next seven years following several major industrial projects in the region. Among the industrial projects in the republic is Rusal’s giant Komi Aluminium project. In addition come the opening of new regional oil and gas fields, and the construction of pipeline and infrastructure to hydrocarbon installations in the Yamal Peninsula. The Komi Republic also has a developed forestry industry.
