According to city mayor Mikhail Savchenko, a total of 275 million RUB will be spent of road upgrades in the city in 2008. Last year, about 500 million RUB was spent on road repairs in Russia’s Arctic capital.

Mayor Sevchenko says to Regnum that he would prefer that the city roads are constructed all anew. He fears that the current road upgrade will last only 15 years before new repairs will have to be made.
