The tanker Provalys will unload the 154,500 cubic meters of LNG at the Montoir-de-Bretagne terminal in France, Tradingmarkets.com reports. After months of techical problems, the Melkoya LNG plant on the Barents Sea coast has now resumed production. The plant, which serves the Snohvit field, only runs with about 60 percent of its capacity and is expected to run 100 percent only in 2009. The Snohvit project is the first hydrocarbon field in the Barents Sea opened for production. The project is based on unique technologies. StatoilHydro is project operator. Gaz de France noted that this delivery marks the opening of a new LNG supply route capable of providing 700 million cbm of gas per annum, to serve the needs of the European markets.
