Spy satellite launched

Defence Ministry officials in Russia say they launched a military satellite from Plesetsk on Friday.

Location

The satellite was put into orbit from a Soyuz-U rocket launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in Arkhangelsk oblast in Northern Russia.

The satellite has got the serial number Cosmos-2462, reports Oruzhie Rossia

The website Spaceflight Now says the satellite is believed to carry a high-resolution camera for spy purposes.

Friday’s satellite launch is the first from Plesetsk this year.
