A dead man found outside Kirkenes on Monday is probably the missing Russian sailor Aleksander Kotkin.

Location

Police on Monday received a report that a hiker had found a dead body on the outskirts of Kirkenes. The deceased is assumed to be the missing Kotkin, as both the description and clothing match, police says to NRK.

Police have been to the place where the body was found. There were no signs that any crime had taken place, and an autopsy will be needed to establish the cause of death.

Aleksandr Kotkin (61) has been missing since Wednesday morning when he was last seen leaving the vessel “Diomedes” at port in Kirkenes, as BarentsObserver reported.
