Now, travelers can remain seated in their vehicles during border crossing. Earlier they had to bring all their luggage, which needed to be x-rayed in the customs station. According to MBnews.ru, the new procedure is applied for people travelling both from and to Russia. It saves time and is very favourable for the regular travelers, who do not bring goods subjected to customs, the news site writes. It is reportedly now also possible for the travelers to make oral declaration of goods. Similarly, the customs officials will make only visual controls of the passing vehicles. The car and truck drivers will still however need to leave their vehicles to talk with the customs and border officials.
