The operator of Obesum, StatoilHydro, has recently ended drilling at an appraisal well in the Obesum and the results of this drilling are very disappointing, according to NRK.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate writes on their web pages that neither the oil well nor the gas well are large enough to be commercially interesting.
The Obesum oil field, which was discovered last winter, is situated 175 kilometres off the coast of Finnmark. Many believed this well to be the one with the highest development potential in the Barents Sea.
