Talking to journalists last Friday, agency leader Anatoly Ledovskikh said that new data obtained last year indicate that Russia has rights over bigger parts of the Arctic shelf than previously estimated. He said that a bid to the UN Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf will be handed over “in the near future”. The bid only includes the extension of the Okhotsk Sea shelf, newspaper Izvestia reports.
