The current unemployment rate in Finland is 9,5 percent, reports Statistics Finland. This is 2,6 percent more than a year ago.
This January the number of employed persons was at approximately the same level as in January 2006 and 2007. The numbers of both wage and salary earners and self-employed persons decreased. The number of employed persons diminished in the areas of all Regional State Administrative Agencies apart from that of Lapland.
Employment fell most in the area of Southwestern Finland.
