Norwegian appointed professor of Murmansk university

Rector of University of Tromsø Jarle Aarbakke is appointed honorary professor of Murmansk State Pedagogical University.

The ceremony to mark the appointment is to take place in Murmansk on April 20, web site B-port.com reports.

A few years ago Jarle Aarbakke led a government committee established to help elaborate Norwegian policies on the North.

The University of Tromsø was opened in 1972 and is the world’s northernmost university. It is the largest research and educational institution in northern Norway.

The main focus of the University’s activities is on the Auroral light research, space science, fishery science, biotechnology, linguistics, multi-cultural societies, Saami culture, telemedicine, social medicine and a wide spectrum of Arctic research projects.
