New helicopters for Barents Sea

Oil companies StatoilHydro and Eni Norway have signed an agreement over the acquisition of new helicopters to be used in the companies’ projects in the Barents Sea.

The agreement was signed recently with the company Norsk Helikopter AS, Offshore.no reports. The new aircrafts will be used in the companies projects in the region, among them the “Snohvit” and the “Goliat” projects. The helicopters will be an adjusted model of the Eurocopter EC225. The model is built on the Superpuma copters currently operating in the Snøhvit project in the Barents Sea. -We are applying the best available technology within helicopter security when we now acquire the new EC225 copters for search, rescue and transport services in the Barents Sea, Ms. Trude Haugland from StatoilHydro’s air transport division says to Offshore.no. According to the agreement two new helicopters will be built.
