Russia’s Antarctic strategy ready

Russia has prepared a state program to secure the nation’s interests in the Antarctic.

Location

The government has approved a strategy for development of Russia’s activities in the Antarctic to 2020 and has allocated RUB 60.5 billion (€153.8 million) to the state program.

The program includes modernization of eight polar stations and seasonal bases, building of five new scientific research vessels and a new Il-114 airplane, web site B-port.com reports.
