EU gives 30 million NOK to health research in the North

The European Union finances a larger science project to map consequences of climate changes and transport of contaminants on people’s health in the High North.

Location

The aim of the four year project is to uncover how contaminants are absorbed in the food chain and who these affect people’s, first of all indigenous people’s, health, NRK reports.

The University in Tromsø and the University Center on Svalbard will take part in the program, which will be led by the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Program. Scientists from Canada and Russia are also involved in the project.
