In course of the last five years a network of seismic stations in the northern parts of Arkhangelsk Oblast has registered several earthquakes on the shelf, including the Shtokman field, says member of the Russian Academy of Science Feliks Yudakhin according to web site Baltinfo.ru.
The earthquakes can reach 7 to 8 on the Richter scale and can destroy drilling holes and pipelines, the scientist warns.
