The flights between Kirkenes and Murmansk have since August 2007 been operated three times per week. However, most people travelling between the sites have still preferred to go by car or bus, according to Widerøe. Especially local customers have disappointed the company.
Widerøe opened the flights last summer, but the number of passengers have gone down during the period and the situation does not seem to improve.
– There is no income for us from this route. Therefore we will close it down from December 1, says Richard Konsgteien in Widerøe to NRK.
