The head of Murmansk municipality, Aleksey Veller, says in an interview with Vecherny Murmansk that the city administration has assisted the Volna shopping mall in negotiations with McDonalds.

- I hope that we will be able to please the citizens next year with this popular institution. Most likely it will be a McAuto, where Murmansk cars can drive up to, Veller says in the interview.

Barentsnova portal in Murmansk has tried to get an official confirmation from McDonald’s without success.

Volna shopping mall is located down-town Murmansk next to the railway station and hotel Meridian. The mall is currently under reconstruction.

Today’s northernmost McDonald’s is located in Rovaniemi in Finland, some few kilometers south of the Arctic Circle.
