“These programme investments are without precedence”, Alekperov told regional Governor Igor Koshin, the Nenets press service informs. The first 25 billion rubles will be invested already in 2014, the company leader confirmed.

Parts of the investments are to be made in the Yuzhno-Khilchuyu field. However, also other projects, among them the Varandey, Toboy and Myadtsay fields will be addressed. Both Halliburton and Schlumberger are heavily involved in the projects, Alekperov said. Also the Russian companies Yevrazia and Vezerford are involved.

As previously reported, the oil company intends to increase production in the Timan-Pechora province by 30 percent over the next two years. A key part of the oil will be shipped out through the Barents Sea from the company’s Varandey terminal.

At the same time, Lukoil has decided to establish a new subsidiary in the region. The Vostok NAO company will be registered in the Nenets AO and pay taxes to the region, the NAO government informs.
