Among the five member regions in Barents Russia, Arkhangelsk tops the list of foreign investments in 2010. Republic of Komi follows just behind with €482 million in foreign investments last year.
The main reason why Arkhangelsk tops the list is because Nenets Autonomous Okrug is included in Arkhangelsk with a foreign investment of €379 million. Several foreign oil companies are active on the Nenets tundra.
Murmansk region if number three on the list in the Russian part of the Barents Region with €70 million followed by Republic of Karelia with $63 million in foreign investments, according to the overview from Russian Statistics.
The average monthly salary is highest in Nenets AO with 47,347 roubles (€1,143) with Murmansk region in second place with 28,921 roubles (€683) per month, reports Barentsnova.com.
