Oil companies co financed Naryan Mar school

The two oil companies Norwegian Statoil and French Total, are operating the Kharyaga oil field in Nenets AO in the far north of Russia. As a thank you for the good cooperation with the regional administration, the oil companies has co financed a school building in Naryan Mar.

Location

The new school building of Naryan Mar’s Secondary School No2 was opened on November 16th. Head of the Nenets AO administration said at the opening that the project has been completed thanks to the cooperation between business and authorities.

– I hope that this building not is the last contribution of the foreign partners to the social infrastructure of the Okrug. The new school meets with the requirements of modern educational technologies and standards, said Igor Fyodorov who is head of the Nenets AO administration.

The School is the oldest in Naryan Mar and had a strong need for modernisation. Statoil and Total financed the construction works, while the administration financed the remaining works. The total costs of the project was 3.5 million EUR.
