Despite negative reactions from both regional and city authorities, the meeting finally took place on the central square of Arkhangelsk on Friday. The rally was supported by the doctors from the neighboring cities of Severodvinsk and Novodvinsk who had sent delegations to Arkhangelsk. The doctors demand better supply of equipment and expense materials for the hospitals, better working conditions, higher salaries and a special program for the training of young specialists for both regional and city healthcare sector.
The meeting participants also voted for the establishment of an independent trade union of the medical workers.
