Arkhangelsk administration without money for salaries

Deputy Speaker in the regional parliament of Arkhangelsk, Antonina Dracheva, says the strained economy has made the regional administration unable to pay its salaries.

As BarentsObserver previously reported, the Arkhangelsk regional administration has been forced to cut the 2009 budget with more than 30 percent following economic crisis.

Ms. Dracheva now confirms that further cuts in the 2009 budget can not be excluded, Severinform.ru reports.

Leader of the regional branch of the A Just Russia Party, Mr. Vasily Badanin says to Regnum that only 357 million RUB now is left of the regional investment programme. Originally, the programme included 3,9 billion RUB of investments. -The budget now only covers salary expenses, Mr. Badanin says. –And that only on a 2008 level, he adds.
