In a regional parliament session this week, member of parliament from the Communist Party Mr. Vasily Kalayda asked for a plausible reason for the Yevdokimov resignation. The question was raised in an extraordinary parliament session devoted to the approval of new governor Dmitry Dmitriyenko.
-We want to know why Yevdokimov resigned, Kalaida said, MBnews.ru reports. The parliament member also wanted to know the results of the recent Accounts Chamber control of the region.
Speaker Yegeny Nikora quickly responded that the issue will have to be addressed in a new parliament session. The question will be on the agenda in one of the next meetings, Nikora said.
Meanwhile, Senator from Murmansk Oblast, Vyachelsav Popov, in a recent interview said that Mr. Yevdokiomov might have had to leave his post because of commercial aspects linked with the Shtokman project in the Barents Sea, Gazeta.ru reports. Mr. Popov believes someone might have been interested in the post as governor because of commercial interests linked with the Shtokman field.
Yury Yevdokimov was dismissed by President Medvedev after the governor criticized the United Russia party’s election campaign in the region and his support to opposition candidate Sergey Subbotin.
