The overall level of discontent among Russians is 39 percent, the poll shows. In parts of the country, especially in highly industrialized areas, the level of discontent exceed 50 percent, newspaper Vedomosti reports.
In the poll, 42 percent of the 34000 questioned individuals say that Russia today is in crisis. 26 percent say that the situation in their respective region is deteriorating and 39 percent note that housing construction has stalled. Up to 33 percent of respondents say they fear they will be fired from their work.
The level of discontent with the authorities is equal among all age groups, the study concludes. The regions with the most dissatisfied people are the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Yaroslav, Kursk and Omsk Oblasts. Also in Moscow and Sankt Petersburg, the level of discontent is high.
The poll has 34,000 respondents and is conducted in 68 Russian federal subjects.
