In a meeting with regional government officials last week, representatives of the powerful industry confirmed that all processing plants in the northern parts of the region now have stopped production following financial problems. The regional administration says that the production in the sector for the first time in ten years will drop. Forestry processing is expected to fall about 17 percent, regional Minister of Forestry, Vladimir Yurev told Stolica.Onego.ru. At the same time, the regional administration accuses the industry of itself partly being guilty in the situation. Governor Sergey Katanandov says that the industry has “insufficient management” and “too many “casual people”, Rosbaltnord.ru reports with reference to Stolica.Onego.ru.
