There is no finacial crisis in Gazprom, at least not if judging from the company’s salary and personnel situation. According to newspaper Vedomosti, the Russian energy company the third quarter of the year hired another 590 people for its Moscow headquarters (+10,5%) to a total of 6222. The personnel increase is quarterly record for the last eight years. At the same time, salaries for Gazprom managers increased with an average of five percent in the period. The average Gazprom employee now makes an average of 93.985 RUB per month. The company now spends 1.75 billion RUB quarterly on salaries and social expenses. The increased spending on salaries could however have costly consequences for the company, which previously has confirmed that the financial crisis is having its impact on operations. The spending situation could force the company to cut in planned investments and postponed projects. The personnel growth comes amid staff cuts in practically all sectors of Russian industry. In addition, Gazprom even before the crisis announced restructuring measures. The measures would also include a ten-percent cut in staff, the company management said in July this year. Apparently, that cut is yet to materialize in Gazprom.
