First rigs soon ready for drilling at Bovanenkovo

Bovanenkovskoe field, Yamal

Gazprom is about to install the first three rigs at its huge Bovanenkovo field in the Yamal Peninsula. A total of nine rigs will be ready for operations at the site when production starts in late 2011.

Location

The rigs, produced by the Uralmash company, meet all international standards, Yamal.org reports. All will be placed on rails enabling them to move around on the site. Each of the rigs have drilling, pumping, compressor, storage and cleansing units.

The Bovanenkovo field is one of Gazprom’s top priorities. The field will alone produce up to 115 billion cubic meters when in full production. The field will be linked both with pipeline and railway.

Production start is set to the end of 2011.
