Norwegian helicopter entered Russian airspace

Illustration photo

A Norwegian helicopter crossed the border to Russia by accident on Tuesday. The pilot must now pay a penalty of 1900 EUR.

Location

The Pilot worked for the Norwegian energy company Statnet and was hired from Sweden. The Police in Kirkenes says to newspaper Finnmarken that there is no excuse for doing such a mistake. All pilots operating close to the Norwegian-Russian border must do solid preparations and learn the geography of the territory.

Even if the helicopter only crossed the Russian border by a few meters, it is still a clear violation of the border regulations. The Pilot is therefore given a penalty of approximately 1900 EUR.
